Privacy Policy

Who we are
Zoomiez, operated by Alexander Tabachnik (sole proprietor), New Brunswick, Canada.
What we collect
- Account details — name and email address provided through Apple Sign In or Google Sign In.
- Pet profile — your dog's name, breed, life stage, dietary preferences, and health concerns, provided during onboarding.
- Scan history — barcodes you scan and the date of each scan, stored in your account.
- Favourites — products you star for quick access.
- Contributed photos — product front, ingredients panel, and guaranteed analysis photos you voluntarily submit through the contribution feature, linked to your account for moderation.
- Subscription status — managed through Apple via RevenueCat; we receive entitlement status tied to a pseudonymous identifier, never your payment details.
- Preferences — app settings such as sound on/off.
- Notification token — if you allow notifications, a device token so we can send your free-trial reminder. It is removed when you sign out or delete your account.
- Missing-product requests — when you scan a barcode we don't have yet, we record that barcode so we know which products to add.
We do not collect: precise or coarse location, contacts, health or medical records, payment card information, device advertising identifiers, or any other sensitive categories not listed above.
Camera. The app uses your camera to scan barcodes and, if you choose to contribute a product, to photograph its packaging. Barcode scanning happens entirely on your device; camera frames are never transmitted or stored. Only the photos you review and submit are uploaded.
How we use it
- Provide and operate the app's features (scanning, scoring, history, favourites).
- Manage your account and subscription.
- Improve the product database through contributed photos.
- Respond to support requests.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Ads and data sharing
No ads. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising or targeted advertising of any kind.
Service providers
- Supabase — cloud database, authentication, and file storage. Hosts your account data, pet profile, scan history, favourites, and contributed photos.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Receives a pseudonymous user identifier to verify entitlement status.
- Apple Sign In — authentication. We receive only the name and email (or private relay address) you authorize.
- Google Sign In — authentication. We receive only the name, email, and identity token you authorize.
Each provider receives only the minimum data necessary to perform its function.
Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Settings → Delete my data). Deletion removes your profile, pet profile, scan history, favourites, preferences, contributed photos, notification tokens, and your subscription record at RevenueCat, and revokes Zoomiez's Sign in with Apple access. This action is irreversible.
Two things are kept without any link to you: barcodes of missing products you scanned (as anonymous demand counts), and contributed photos that were already approved and published as a product's catalogue image. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription — cancel it in your device's Settings.
Data retention
- Account information and pet profile — retained until you delete your account.
- Scan history and favourites — retained until you clear them or delete your account.
- Contributed photos — retained until you delete your account (approved catalogue images excepted, as above).
- Notification tokens — retained until you sign out, disable notifications, or delete your account.
- Subscription records — retained per Apple's requirements.
Your choices
- Delete your account and all data through Settings → Delete my data, or by emailing support@zoomiez.app.
- Clear your scan history independently through Settings → Clear scan history.
International transfers
Your data may be processed or stored in Canada, the United States, or other countries where our service providers operate.
GDPR / UK-GDPR
If you are located in the EU or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, port, and restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact support@zoomiez.app. We will respond within 30 days.
CCPA / CPRA
We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the CPRA.
Children
Zoomiez is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will delete their account and associated data.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
